The 317 is a great hook to use on emerging caddis patterns or other nymphs where more of a bend is needed.  This hook is also very good for the Klinkhammer as well.  A personal favorite of this hook is to tie very light, sparse softhackle BWO emerger patterns for when big browns and rainbows are in the shallows selectively feeding on Blue Wing Olives.  Trail that softhackle BWO emerger pattern on this hook about a foot back of a parachute pattern and hold on and have your drag set!   Hook details:
