Voluntary Fishing Restrictions, Upper North Platte and Encampment Rivers

New voluntary fishing restrictions are in effect on the Upper North Platte and Encampment rivers due to sustained water temperatures above 70°F.

  • Upper North Platte River: Anglers are asked to avoid fishing entirely from the Colorado–Wyoming state line to Dugway Campground. Some sections are remaining dangerously warm even during morning hours.
  • Encampment River: Anglers are asked to stop catch-and-release fishing from noon until sunrise, from Riverside Bridge to the North Platte River confluence.

Wyoming Game and Fish announced the restrictions July 17, 2026, and will modify or lift them as temperatures change.

Green River Fishing Restriction

Green River Fishing Restriction

Wyoming Game and Fish issued a new voluntary afternoon fishing restriction for the Green River on July 16, 2026.

Anglers are asked to stop catch-and-release fishing from noon until sunrise on the Green River from Flaming Gorge Reservoir upstream to Slate Creek Campground. Afternoon and evening water temperatures have been regularly exceeding 70°F because of unusually warm weather and low flows. Signs are being posted at major access points.
