According to Rocky Mountain Urgent Care & Family Medicine, research shows that for every 1000 feet of elevation, UV intensity also increases by a factor of 8 to 10% (RSMB 2018).
This results in an approximate 100% increase in UV intensity from sea level to 10,000 feet. THAT MEANS TWICE THE SUNBURN IN THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME!
